Research Interests
- Computer Vision
I am mainly interested in computer vision algorithms that are applicable to
robotics. I have recently done work on
region shape
descriptors which I presented at ICCV'07, and also the
MSCR feature detector which I presented at CVPR'07. Earlier work includes the CCF feature
detector, and the blob feature detector.
- Learning Systems
I believe that learning is an essential component of seeing systems. Learning
becomes even more interesting when it is embodied, because this allows the
system to act, and when acting we can make use of the knowledge that we
caused something. Most recent work in this category is within the
Curious George
project, and the robotic eye model project. Earlier I have done work on active
object appearance
learning, and active learning of saccades via motion prediction.

Available masters thesis projects
- If you are interested in doing a Masters project in Computer Vision, and have your own funding (e.g. from CSN), you are welcome to contact me. Some project ideas are formalised as proposals in the list below. You can also suggest new ideas, or modifications of those in the list.
- You can find a Masters project list for the Computer Vision lab here.
